In recent months, the Laikipia Tourism Association has been growing its partnerships with various organizations and entities to help it provide more benefits to its members.
One of the benefits of the Laikipia Tourism Association is that we continually seek to grow our members’ capacity by providing them with access to training, tools, and technologies that support sustainable tourism.
This is in line with the association’s primary goal: to ensure that Laikipia and its surroundings are recognized as the most sustainable tourism destination in East Africa.
Towards these efforts, one of the association’s partners, the Sustainable Travel and Tourism Agenda (STTA), recently offered the LTA a scholarship opportunity for their Masterclass on Optimizing Sustainable Tourism Yield.
This course was aimed at helping participants to gain knowledge and develop an understanding of the dynamic, sustainable tourism landscape and equip them with the required tools to:
- Implement their sustainable tourism strategies
- Respond to the current events in sustainability
- Share organizational values
One of our members (El Karama Conservancy and Camp) benefited from this scholarship. They will report on the takeaways from this Masterclass for sharing with the rest of our members.
We continue to explore long-term collaboration with similar partners.
We can benefit through specialized training programs for members, and offer media and communication support, more seminars on current trends in tourism, and others.
We are also working to identify ways to collaborate with Laikipia County’s Department of Tourism. We have discussed how we can co-host a year-long set of seminars devoted to our four themes. (Education and Training, Destination Development and Marketing, Technology and Labor Force Development)
Once every two months, members of our hospitality industry will be invited to participate in an event that allows us to focus on the success of our sector at scale in the Greater Laikipia Landscape.
Co-hosted by the LTA and County Government, we hope that these seminars will explore sector themes in-depth, using some of the best local experience and expertise on offer in Kenya.
We will keep you updated on these efforts.
Currently, we are working with the County Government of Laikipia and Tv47, a local Tv station, to shoot some of the beautiful landmarks and destinations in Laikipia, including some of our members’ establishments.
Once this documentary is produced, we will share it widely on all our social media platforms.
