The Bomas of Kenya (Nairobi) hosted the 2022 edition of the Magical Kenya Travel Expo.
After last year’s virtual expo, this year’s expo was a more than welcome return to in-person meetings. The event attracted over 200 exhibitors and 150 global buyers from key source markets.
This event was geared towards raising the profile of Kenya and the East African region as a top tourism and travel destination. Aside from connecting exhibitors and buyers, it also presented attendees with an excellent opportunity to participate actively in panel discussions.
The panel discussions were on the following:-
- Airline and Access:This explored how travelling had changed post-Covid. The panel also discussed what destinations could do to make travel easier for tourism.
- Sustainable and inclusive tourism:The panelists had an engaging dialogue on the transformation of the tourism sector and the increasing demand for socially responsible travel/tourism.
- Innovation and digitization:This was an insightful discussion on enabling a more resilient, sustainable and inclusive tourism sector through innovation and digitization.
- The future of tourism and its resilience:This was the last panel discussion, and it entailed discussing emerging trends in the post-Covid world.
LTA Members such as El Karama, Olepangi Farm, Kicheche Camps, Sweetwaters Serena and, Ol Pejeta were some tourism players representing our greater Laikipia tourism sector.
Overall, the event provided a great networking platform for the Laikipia Tourism Association. From this, we can develop strong partnerships, grow our membership, and possibly lobby to host such forums in our landscape.
