He was born at Sanga Village in Il Ngwesi Community Land and has worked with community organizations as well Non-profit organizations in Laikipia County in the past. His career began at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, where he worked as Rhino Surveillance ranger and later joined the tourism industry at Il Ngwesi where he rose from a cook to become a Lodge Manager.
Prior to joining Borana and Lolldaiga, Ochen has worked with Rift Valley adventures as a Camp Manager before switching his career in year 2015 and became a community liaison Officer for Laikipia Wildlife Forum in charge of the Eastern unit Hailing from Laikipia and with a pastoralism background, Ochen’s passion lies in rangelands management, protection and rehabilitation as well as in Wildlife conservation.
With over 10 years working with communities, Ochen is fully immersed in the community social dynamics and believes he has an opportunity to contribute to the social development and livelihoods improvement in the communities living in the Mukogodo landscape and Laikipia at Large.
