In the sixth issue of Kwetu Laikipia, we featured Drawing Dreams Initiative (DDI). This youth-led community-based organization focuses on menstrual health, hygiene management, sexual reproductive health and rights, and life skills empowerment.
Earlier this month, the DDI team held the second edition of the Dreams Youth Expo at the Cedar Mall rooftop. The expo brought together diverse exhibitors from Nairobi, Meru, Isiolo and Laikipia.
The expo drew partners and exhibitors from different sectors, including tourism and hospitality, arts, technology, fashion, and design, among many others.
The Laikipia Tourism Association did not only partner with Drawing Dreams Initiative for this Expo, but we also had a stand where we were able to sensitize the public on the Laikipia Tourism Association and the role we play.
We were also selling the Laikipia coffee table book. The book features more than 350 photographs celebrating one of the world’s most exciting wilderness safari and wildlife tourism destinations – our very own Laikipia landscape.
From this exposure opportunity, we added new membership subscriptions from stunning facilities such as Comfort Gardens (Sweetwaters); we sold copies of the Laikipia coffee table books, and we will partner with various visitors and exhibitors over the remainder of the year.
We also met people intending to work in the greater Laikipia’s tourism sector. One of the benefits of LTA membership is to provide our members with access to skilled labor pools supporting roles in the tourism sector, and to assist you with recruitment. We will therefore work with the most qualified and competent individuals to ensure they secure placement in our member’s facilities and that our member facilities get the best staff.
DDIs upcoming initiative is the Road Trip 4 a cause. This is a travel-for-impact product by Drawing Dreams Initiative that inspires meaningful youth engagement for transformative community change as they explore Kenya’s magnificent country.
Kindly feel free to reach out if you would like to partner with the DDI team in:
- Identifying communities that would benefit from interventions and proceeds from Road Trip 4 a cause.
- Providing a suitable and ideal camping site.
