This month we celebrate 25 years of the formal registration of the Laikipia Wildlife Forum. Established in 1992, the Forum has continued to work towards a productive and robust Upper Ewaso landscape that supports livelihoods and healthy populations of all types of wildlife.
Our Vision acknowledges that Laikipia plays a vital role in the Upper Ewaso Ng’iro catchment landscape, and that the connectivity of lands between Laikipia, Samburu, Meru, Nyeri, Nyandarua, and Isiolo Counties are vital to our coexistence with nature.
We support our Mission by nurturing and supporting stakeholder institutions that champion wildlife conservation and sustainable natural resources management in Laikipia and among its neighbors.
Through our thematic areas or Water, Wildlife, Rangelands, Conservation Education, Land Use and Tourism, the Forum has embraced a collaborative, partnership approach, which provides a broader avenue for all stakeholders in future decision-making and action on natural resources conservation in this landscape.
This year, we also celebrate our newly registered name – THE LAIKIPIA FORUM – it illustrates our wider engagement with the environment and natural resources conservation.
