Dear Members, Friends and Partners,
My commitment to environmental and sustainable natural resource management is driven by my love for nature and a clean environment. Formal education just enhanced it.
I learned about Laikipia (Wildlife) Forum 12 years ago and had an opportunity to establish synergies with one of the projects I implemented while with the East African Wildlife Society (EAWLS).
The Forum was an inspiration to me in terms of program implementation. This made me long to work with it someday. The opportunity has finally come!
I feel privileged and delighted as the incoming Partnership Director/Executive Director to lead a team that strives to implement strategies that champion conservation of natural resources for benefits to nature as well as people’s livelihoods.
I have more than two decades of work experience in the environment, natural resource management, and conservation sectors in the Eastern Africa region and beyond.
Through my advocacy-led initiatives and participation in Multi-Stakeholder Fora (MSF), I have contributed to and influenced policy and legislative processes at county, national and regional levels. This was enabled through my ability to interact and form partnerships with multi-stakeholders.
With this extensive experience and expertise, I am motivated to lead the Forum in establishing and maintaining partnerships, mobilizing resources, building the capacity of Partners, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and other stakeholders, while guiding and engaging diverse stakeholders including County and National government officers and government lead agencies in advocacy, policy development and implementation, applying participatory and integrated Natural Resource Management (NRM) to promote sustainable use of natural resources, among other roles.
Prior to joining the Laikipia (Wildlife) Forum, I worked with African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS), Umande Trust, African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), the East African Wildlife Society (EAWLS) and Wetlands International.
I hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from Kenyatta University and a Bachelor of Science (Botany and Zoology) degree from Moi University.
I am also an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Audit (EA) Lead Expert, registered with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA). In relation to this, I am a member of the Environment Institute of Kenya (EIK)
I enjoy traveling, particularly to remote and scenic areas. This is coupled with my interest in exploring new places and meeting people with diverse cultural backgrounds.
I am delighted to be joining the Forum.
