Get to know our board members

The Laikipia Wildlife Forum’s 12-member board is composed of individuals from different organizations, all of whom possess advanced knowledge and expertise in the fields of wildlife conservation, natural resource management and sustainable development. The board is chaired by Dr. Romano Kiome, a highly respected figure in the conservation sector, who brings his extensive experience and expertise to guide the organization’s strategic direction.

The diversity of the board members’ backgrounds and experiences ensures that the Laikipia Wildlife Forum is well equipped to address the complex challenges facing the conservation sector and to develop innovative solutions that promote sustainable development and the preservation of natural resources in the region.

Abdi Sora

Member

Abdi Sora has been General Manager of Borana Conservancy since 2013. Prior to this he was the Finance and Administration Manager.

Gilbert Mutembei

Member

Gilbert Mutembei is the current Chairman of Laikipia Tourism Association (LTA) which brings together the hospitality industry (tourism operators/ destinations) in Laikipia.

Josh Perrett

Member

Josh Perret is the current managing director of the Mugie Conservancy Ltd. Josh runs the day to day management of a conservation area situated in the North West corner of the county.

Ochen Mayiani

Member

Mr. Ochen Sakita Maiyani is currently the Community Liaison and development Manager for both Borana & Lolldaiga Conservancies.

Wilfred Mejooli

Member

Mr Mejooli has over 20 years’ experience working with communities in East Africa countries on land use planning, grazing planning, livestock enterprise development and holistic decision making.

Stanley Kirimi

Member

Mr Stanley is a strong believer in equal opportunities for all all and has an overwhelming passion in ensuring there is abundant water for all.

Dr. Boniface Kiteme

Member

Dr. Boniface Kiteme holds a MA in Planning (UoN) and a PhD in Natural Resources Management from the Institute of Geography, University of Bern Switzerland.

Charles Kiara

Mr. Charles Kiara is the current chair of our partners the Ewaso Maji Users Association – EMU-SACCO. Mr Kiara has previously worked with the Kenya Commercial Bank in a managerial position.
