ORAMAT LENABOISHO COOPERATIVE SOCIETY has identified the need for many pastoralists to access animal drugs at favourable prices and locations. Therefore, the Society partnered with MEDISELL DAWA COMPANY- an animal input supplier to ensure that this need is served.
To ensure that this goal is achieved, the Society saw the importance of setting up the business at a central point with easy access from all member areas. Laragai was the best location for a satellite shop, and BORANA Conservancy provides us with a store for the drugs.
The society has two staff running the agrovet service, one stationed out of the Conservancy, and another engaging farmer with outreach services daily. The outreaches and field promotions aim to enhance knowledge on the identification of livestock diseases, the provisions of quality drugs, and drug administration and handling.
In the foreseeable future, we aim to have more members with more knowledge about livestock diseases, and more community members benefitting from this service. This effort forms part of a bigger reporting chain on the emergence and treatment of livestock stock diseases before they spread.
