The Laikipia Tourism Association’s membership has grown significantly over the last two years. We attribute this to our ability to provide our members with concrete benefits in return for their subscriptions. One of the benefits the Laikipia Tourism Association offers to its members is helping members access a skilled labor pool. The Laikipia Tourism Association also serves as an information clearinghouse on training, certification opportunities, and internships.
Some of our members and partners are constantly looking for attachments and interns who can hone their skills at their establishments and organizations. Some are looking for employees who can add value to their entities and organizations. The Laikipia Tourism Association serves as the link between our members and skilled labor.
Cynthia Mali, a third-year student pursuing sustainable tourism and hospitality management at the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, was one of the recent beneficiaries of this service. She reached out to the Laikipia Tourism Association, wanting to do her industrial attachment at one of the tourism facilities in Laikipia. Our association promptly helped link her with an opportunity at the Warwick Hotel in Nanyuki Town.
We caught up with Cynthia as she was concluding her three-month attachment at the Warwick Hotel, and she was able to highlight her experiences there. She was quick to mention that she had acquired considerable skills. These included front office skills, room service, among many others.
Cynthia has experienced both the highs and lows of the tourism industry firsthand, which has only strengthened her will to want to work in the sector. Though Cynthia is a Nairobi resident, the prospect of working in our landscape excites her. She would be delighted to work in one of our many facilities once she graduates.
Cynthia is just one of the many individuals the LTA has successfully helped to secure placement in our member and partner facilities. We encourage our members seeking to recruit for various positions to reach out. The LTA has a directory of CVs, which we can shared to ensure members secure the right fit.
Also, we would like to encourage those seeking to be placed in the various facilities in greater Laikipia Landscape to reach out through; tourismlaikipia@laikipia.org, and we will advise on how you can share your application.
