Baotree is MKEWPs newest partner. They work with for-profit and non-profit organizations to design and develop easier ways of collecting and managing information for decision-making and impact monitoring.
One of the most challenging aspects of managing a WRUA is real-time information on water flows, illegal abstractions, water pollution and riparian degradation. Working with @Baotree, WRUA managers and scouts from Likii and Naro Moru rivers, now have a real time smartphone application that is linked to each WRUA management team. Scouts report in real time, and this information is relayed to WRUA managers for review and action.
This new system gives WRUA managers legitimate and timely information that both improves management of the resource and the sub-catchment, AND also increases their credibility among their WRUA members. Information can then be shared via WHATSAPP groups along the catchment, or with WRA and other authorities for action.
