His leadership has positioned him as a trusted, dependable partner to governments, communities, and local, national and international organizations.
Recognized globally for innovation in carbon and restoration projects, Shibia has ensured that initiatives such as the Northern Kenya Grasslands Carbon Project deliver tangible benefits to people and landscapes. His career includes senior roles at the Northern Rangelands Trust, the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), where he built a reputation for bridging science, policy, and community action.
As Executive Director, Shibia is driving LWF’s growth trajectory, ensuring that governance, partnerships, and community empowerment remain at the heart of conservation. His vision is to inspire confidence among members, donors, and partners by demonstrating that Laikipia’s landscapes can thrive through inclusive governance, transparent administration, and collaborative action. He holds a Master of Science degree in Natural Resource Management from Egerton University and a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Management from the University of Eldoret, with advanced training in project monitoring and participatory learning methods across Africa, Europe, and the USA.
