Most wildlife photographers will agree that having a long lens is just half of the trick when it comes to capturing amazing wildlife images. The other big part includes field craft and immense amounts of patience in producing stunning imagery, and more often than not, this may include working from a wildlife photography hide. At the Porini Rhino Camp, situated in the quiet western part of the 90,000-acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy, there exists a wildlife photography hide perfect for capturing captivating close-up images of animals.
The hide is carefully placed just a few meters from the camp’s mess and lounge area, overlooking a waterhole where wildlife comes to quench their thirst throughout the day. Being inside a valley, painted green in color and having some tree branches on top of it makes for the perfect camouflage ensuring that the hide often goes unnoticed. It has literally become part of the natural environment.
The waterhole is frequented by various wildlife species including zebras, lions, elephants, buffalo, baboons, gazelles, waterbucks, birds, and more. The hide is big enough to host up to 8 guests at the same time and is furnished with a work table and seats so you can wait patiently and comfortably to get the perfect picture. The hide also has sockets for charging your equipment if you need to.
All guests staying at Porini Rhino Camp get to enjoy the benefit of the hide where they can safely observe and photograph wildlife freely strolling in while in close proximity. Porini Rhino Camp is a small intimate safari eco-camp consisting of a total of 8 guest tents. Two out of these are family tents perfect for families or friends traveling together.
